NKN (New Kind of Network)

NKN (New Kind of Network) is a network focused on establishing a decentralized and open-source protocol for public blockchain-based peer-to-peer (P2P) networks to share network bandwidth and internet connectivity. It aims to tackle the challenges faced by today's internet, such as centralization, scalability issues, and security concerns.

The founders of NKN are Yanbo Li, Bruce Li, and Yilun Zhang, who possess expertise in networking software and blockchain technology. Noteworthy advisors for the project include Stephen Wolfram, creator of Mathematica and Wolfram|Alpha, and Whitfield Diffie, inventor of public-key cryptography.

NKN Mainnet was launched in July 2019 and currently boasts up to 25,000 full consensus nodes. Its main goals include decentralizing internet infrastructure, improving scalability, and enhancing network security. NKN aims to create a cost-effective platform for decentralized applications by leveraging community participation.

NKN's unique consensus algorithm is based on Cellular Automata, allowing for scalable consensus across a large number of equal consensus nodes. It employs a global addressing scheme based on public keys to enable direct peer-to-peer communication without centralized servers, with packet routing facilitated by the Chord Distributed Hash Table (DHT).

The native token of the NKN network is NKN, with a maximum supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens and 754,831,362 NKN currently in circulation. NKN's network security is ensured through a mechanism called Proof-of-Relay (PoR), rewarding miners for relaying real-world (useful) data along the network.

NKN (NKN) can be traded on various centralized exchanges such as Binance, Coinbase, KuCoin, Bittrex, Huobi, Gate.io, Bitget, and Crypto.com, among others. Users can monitor NKN live prices in real-time using the CoinMarketCap mobile app.
