Moonriver

 Moonriver (MOVR) is an Ethereum-compatible smart contract parachain operating within the Kusama ecosystem. Serving as a companion network to Moonbeam, it functions as a permanently incentivized canary network. Moonriver plays a crucial role as the testing ground for new code before deployment to Moonbeam on Polkadot, ensuring thorough testing and verification under genuine economic conditions.

At its core, Moonriver provides a complete EVM implementation, a Web3-compatible API, and bridges connecting it to existing Ethereum networks. This seamless integration enables developers to deploy Solidity smart contracts and DApp frontends to Moonriver with minimal adjustments.

MOVR serves as the utility token driving the functionalities of the decentralized smart contract platform. Its indispensable roles include:

Supporting gas metering for smart contract execution.

Incentivizing collators and facilitating the creation of a decentralized node infrastructure.

Enabling on-chain governance mechanisms, including proposing referenda, electing council members, and voting.

Covering network transaction fees.
